Durham Box awarded highest BRC grade

Leading corrugated packaging manufacturer, Durham Box, has been awarded a AA grade BRC certification for its manufacturing site in Bishop Auckland, Co Durham. Under the revised issue 5 of the BRC Standard for Packaging and Packaging Materials, a AA grade is one of the highest awards that a business can achieve within the certification scheme.

The BRC certificate streamlines the supplier approval process and makes it easier for suppliers to the food manufacturing sector to meet the requirements of the BRC Food Standard, while also helping retailers and food manufacturers adhere to their legal obligations.

Durham Box’s Managing Director, Dan Morris said: “As with all businesses, maintaining a BRC certification involves a great deal of hard work from all employees. Achieving a AA grade shows that we deliver the highest possible standards in all that we do and provides reassurance to our customers that our products are made in a safe, quality-minded environment that complies with all relevant legislation.”

Durham Box is one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of corrugated packaging, servicing large-scale accounts across multiple markets, particularly within the FMCG sector. Owned and operated by the same family since 1989, the company occupies a 120,000 sqm site in the North-East of England, employs 95 staff and makes in excess of 40 million products per year.

Central to their offering is a Nozomi C18000 single-pass, ultra-high-speed LED inkjet corrugated packaging press, providing Durham Box with the ability to produce short-run, well-designed corrugated boxes for e-commerce businesses and start-ups, printed with 100% low migration food safe inks.
