Here’s a sneak peak of a story that took place recently. Researchers at the Larner College of Medicine at the University of Vermont hasfound that there people who eat chillies have a mortality advantage over thosewho don’t.The study found that consumption of hot red chilli peppers is associated with a13% reduction in total mortality, primarily in deaths due to heart disease or stroke. Going back for centuries, peppers and spices have been thought to bebeneficial in the treatment of diseases, but only one other study – conducted inChina and published in 2015 – has previously examined chili pepper consumptionand its association with mortality. This new study corroborates the earlier study’sfindings.“Although the mechanism by which peppers could delay mortality is far fromcertain, Transient Receptor Potential (TRP) channels, which are primary receptorsfor pungent agents such as capsaicin (the principal component in chili peppers),may in part be responsible for the observed relationship,” said the study authors.66_Layout 1 01/02/2017 10:05 Page 1STANDF15FIND OUTMOREFLEXIBLES BEST KEPT SECRET67_Layout 1 01/02/2017 10:05 Page 1Anderol® Specialty lubricants offers tailored solutions to demanding industrial environments, achieving reduced maintenance, longer service life and optimum performance.
