Here’s a sneak peak at one of our latest stories. PepsiCo plans to more than double its science-based climate goal, targeting a reduction of absolute greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across its value chain by more than 40% by 2030. In addition, the company has pledged to achieve net-zero emissions by 2040, one decade earlier than called for in the Paris Agreement. Specifically, PepsiCo plans to reduce absolute GHG emissions across its direct operations (Scope 1 and 2) by 75% and its indirect value chain (Scope 3) by 40% by 2030 (2015 baseline). This action is expected to result in the reduction of more than 26 million metric tons of GHG emissions or the equivalent of taking more than five million cars off the road for a full year. “Climate action is core to our business as a global food and beverage leader and propels our PepsiCo Positive journey to deliver positive outcomes for the planet and people,” said PepsiCo Chairman and CEO Ramon Laguarta. “Our ambitious climate goal will guide us on the steep but critical path forward — there is simply no other option but immediate and aggressive action.” Diary Food & Drink March 9-10, Food Matters Live, online 11-12, Future Food-Tech, online 23, UK Water Drinks Conference, online April 8-9, Plant Based World Conference & Expo Europe, London 12-14, UK Food Shows, Birmingham 17-20, Alimentaria, Spain 18-20, FRUIT LOGISTICA SPECIAL EDITION, Germany 21-23, Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Centre, China May 11, UK Soft Drinks Conference, online 17-20, Alimentaria, online Stay in touch with Food & Drink International For more up to the minute information from the food and drink industry, visit Food & Drink International online at www.fdiforum.net.
