Aimed at both confectionery manufacturers and ingredient producers alike, the unique technology injects vibration energy directly into the bag, densifying and dispersing material, increasing weight per filled bag, thereby improving bag stability and bulk bag filling throughput. When shipping low bulk density products or materials that are poorly densified, a standard container can normally hold 22 bulk bags and is often shipped below the maximum allowable weight. By using Spiroflow’s CTE bulk bag filler, more weight can be shipped on each container resulting in as much as a 20% reduction in shipping costs, the equivalent of 4 bulk bags per container saved. Savings can be made from having the ability to fill more material in each bag, reducing total bag usage or from being able to use shorter, lower cost bags. The filtration specialist says that tailored research involving pilot trials can result in a more efficient solution that optimises separation performance and productivity. Derek Davies, Business Development Director at Axium Process, said: “Crossflow membrane technology is used in almost every industry and has many advantages. However, identifying the ideal membrane and operating conditions is key to success. There are four levels of filtration with many variables to consider, including factors such as media type, temperature, pressure, and the pH range of the environment. “Research can help end users make the right decision and will result in a customised solution more tailored to their needs. The research involves pilot plant trials that more closely replicate real-life conditions and detailed performance analysis that helps identify optimal parameters, with the most effective membrane.” New year brings new website Interfood Technology has launched a brand new website and in doing so has provided an exciting new resource for food manufacturers looking to find the latest information on equipment and services that can add value to their processing operations. The new platform has been developed for easy user experience and with improved navigation very much in mind. A new ‘Application’ menu allows food manufacturers to search by application, including meat, fish, plant-based, and pet food. A ‘Product Search’ facility provides another means for users to drill down quickly to the relevant information based on their particular area of interest. Visitors can stay up to date with the latest developments and initiatives through the ‘News’ section. Jessica Baldwin, Marketing & Events Administrator at Interfood, said: “We created a new site when we relocated to our new premises back in July 2017 and while we have ensured that it is constantly updated, felt it was time for a new look and to introduce some additional functionality to reflect how the site was being used.” The new website can be found at www.interfoodtechnology.com. 04-11.qxp_Layout 1 31/01/2022 12:15 Page 3Food & Drink International 7 www.fdiforum.net news Special Edition! The innovative VWT solution has helped the production facility in Leigh, Lancashire to reduce costs by approximately 50% or £1,000 per month, streamline process management and ensure compliance with the conditions of its trade effluent discharge permit. Due to the nature of the products manufactured at the Leigh site, the water discharged from the production line contains significant levels of suspended solids as well as fat, oil and grease (FOG) content. AB World Foods operates a Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) water treatment process to remove the contamination from the water before it is discharged. This process is aided by the use of a chemical coagulant to help separate the particles more effectively. In consultation with the site facilities team, VWT UK analysed the requirements and recommended a combination of its Hydrex 6861 organic coagulant and Hydrex 6521 anionic liquid polymer, which consolidates the flocs for easy removal. Hydrex 6861 is a vegetable-based organic coagulant made from renewable Black Acacia tree bark. It provides a more efficient, cost effective and simpler alternative to traditional metal-based coagulants such as ferric chloride or polyaluminium chloride (PAC). It does not require the use of caustic chemicals, has lower dosing requirements compared to other products and, when compared with metal-based options, it produces a lower volume of sludge for the same level of performance. Also, its organic composition means it is biodegradable to ensure a minimal environmental impact and allow a wider range of sludge disposal options. Chris Sanders, Site Facilities Manager at AB World Foods commented: “The VWT solution has been in place for more than two years and we have seen very impressive results. Chemical usage is now far more consistent and predictable, and the quantity used has been reduced by around 50%, saving the business approximately £1,000 per month.” 04-11.qxp_Layout 1 31/01/2022 12:15 Page 4The leading food & drink events to revolutionise your business IFE & IFE Manufacturing 2022 are co-located with: Scan the QR code to secure your FREE PASS to attend or visit our websites: ife.co.uk ifemanufacturing.co.uk Register now! 21 - 23 March 2022 | ExCeL London •• UKUK s onlnly dedicated shshowowcacasese for endn -to-o- enend d fofoodod aandnd ddririnknk mamanunufafactctururererss •• 15150+0+ ppacackakagigingng,, prprococesessisingng, , tetechchnonolologygy, , iningrgrededieientnts,s, aandnd seservrviciceses ssupupplplieiersrs •• 1515 ttalalksks aandnd wwororkskshohopsps gagaththereriningg ofoff ffooooo dd anandd drdrinink k prprofofesessisiononalalss •• 1,1,50500 0 susupppplilierers s frfromom 5555 ccouountntririeses •• 3-3-daday y sesemimiminanaar r prprogograraammmmmee •• 7070++ ininflufluuenentiti spspeaeakekek rsrs anunuufafaf ctctcturururiinininingggg o-locatetedddiwiwiththth:: Scan the secure yo RRRRRRRRRReeegis ala 2211 - 2 • UKUKUKUKK’s’sss llarargegegestststst ggagagaga ofofo ffooooddd anannna dddd n KK’s’s oonlnlyy dedidicacatetedd 04-11.qxp_Layout 1 31/01/2022 12:15 Page 5Food & Drink International 9 www.fdiforum.net RMGroup’s new state-of-the-art website delivers a first-rate user experience Leading robotics and automation specialists, RMGroup, has recently launched an impressive new website, showcasing its knowledge, innovation and automation expertise.
