WHO plans to strike trans-fatsfrom global food supplyThe World HealthOrganisation (WHO) hasreleased a new step-by-step guide as it plans toeliminate industrially-produced trans-fatty acidsfrom global food supply.WHO estimates thatevery year, trans fat intakeleads to more than500,000 deaths of peoplefrom cardiovascular disease.Industrially-producedtrans fats are contained inhardened vegetable fats,such as margarine and ghee, and are often present in snack food,baked foods and fried foods.
