The Label Makers were tasked with creating a label providing maximum shelf appeal, with minimal production costs. Charlie Gibbs, Steampunk Spirits’ founder, said, “The B&M brief was clear – they wanted a quality range of gin, presented with excellent branding, at a very competitive price. The label really needed to stand out, which is why we chose an eye-catching embossed and foiled front label.” MD David Webster added: “We were required to produce a label with finely detailed imagery and a high “rooftop emboss”, so recommending the best substrate material was critical to achieving the desired effect. By working with the die and embossing manufacturers we achieved an outstanding aesthetic.” The Steampunk Explorer range proved popular at its initial release and has since been rolled out across the country’s B&M branches. The report, commissioned by the Crop Protection Agency (CPA) and written by independent agronomist Séan Rickard, highlights the impact removing pesticides would have on family shopping bills. It found that the cost of fresh fruit and vegetables would rise by more than £4 per week – an extra £226 per year. The UN Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) estimate that on average 26-40% of crop yields are lost to weeds, pests and diseases. Without pesticides, they estimate the losses could double. If farmers were denied access to these products there would be a significant drop in global food production, a subsequent hike in food prices and the quality we have come to expect in the crops that underpin our food system would decline markedly. Di Walker, current Executive Chair of Karro, has been appointed Chief Executive of the new company. “We are very excited about the opportunity to create an ambitious multi-protein food business of considerable scale,” she said. Young’s CEO Bill Showalter added: “With CapVest’s existing understanding of our industry, and as part of a multi-protein food group, we will have the opportunity to inspire more consumers to love fish through our fresh, frozen, own-label and branded products.” Verner Wheelock training is delight for Turkish company Verner Wheelock regularly delivers in-house training to food companies throughout the UK.
