Here’s a sneak peak of a story that took place recently. The average price of a bottle of wine has risen more over the last 12 weeksthan it had in the last two years, according to the Wine & Spirit TradeAssociation (WSTA).The Association’s latest Market Report found that, in the last three months of2016, an averaged priced bottle of wine sold in the UK passed the £5.50 markfor the first time ever. The latest data shows it has now hit £5.56.The impact of Brexit, which saw the value of the pound plummet and push upthe cost of imports, has led to a 3% increase on wine prices in 12 weeks to thebeginning of 2017.The figures do not take into account the impact of the 3.9% rise on alcoholduty inflicted by the Chancellor in the March Budget – adding another 8p to theaverage priced bottle of wine.Forecasts predict that wine prices will continue to rise as the triple whammyeffect of Brexit inflation and duty increases take their toll.DiaryFood & DrinkJuly5-6, UK AD & Biogas, NEC Birmingham11, FDF Convention, British Museum London18-29, RPB Asia, Singapore 18-20, Speciality & Fine Food Asia,Singapore 25-26, International Cheese Awards, SouthCheshireAugust22-24, Fi South America, Brazil24-27, iFood 2017, IranSeptember5-6, Vitafoods Asia, Singapore 11-12, World Congress on Advances inNutrition, Food Science & Technology,Edinburgh 11-15, drinktec 2017, Germany13-14, Packaging Innovations, London 25, Labelexpo Europe 2017, Belgium26, Takeaway & Restaurant Innovation Expo,London 26-27, Bar Tech Live 2017, London26-28, PPMA Show 2017, BirminghamPick up a copy of Food & DrinkInternational at this event54_Layout 1 26/06/2017 12:48 Page 1Anderol® Specialty lubricants offers tailored solutions to demanding industrial environments, achieving reduced maintenance, longer service life and optimum performance.
