Velcro strapping system targets logistics efficiency and waste reduction

A new reusable pallet strapping system is aiming to cut plastic waste and improve packaging efficiency across logistics operations.

The ErgoStrap RE system uses Velcro straps instead of disposable plastic and is designed to be reused up to 10,000 times. It also includes an automated winding and unwinding mechanism that operates at twice the speed of traditional strapping methods, helping to accelerate pallet unitisation.

The system is geared towards improving workplace safety and ergonomics. It allows operators to perform the entire strapping process while standing upright, using a joystick-controlled chain lance. This design reduces the need for bending and lifting, two key contributors to back strain and workplace injuries in industrial environments.

ErgoStrap reports that the system eliminates strap twisting, which can weaken strapping by up to 30% and compromise load stability. With a 25-year track record in the market, the company has delivered over 20,000 units worldwide.
