Walmart has launched its first fully-owned and operated case-ready beef facility in Olathe, Kansas, marking a significant milestone in the company’s strategy to strengthen its supply chain for Angus beef. This state-of-the-art facility will package and distribute Angus cuts sourced from Sustainable Beef LLC, an initiative Walmart invested in last year. The goal is to enhance transparency and offer customers more consistent and affordable beef options across the Midwest.
The 300,000-square-foot facility is expected to create over 600 jobs in Olathe and surrounding areas, contributing to local economic growth. Walmart’s investment is also set to boost business for local suppliers and service providers. The facility will process fresh beef into ready-to-retail cuts, ensuring greater supply chain control and efficiency.
In addition to driving business growth, the facility is part of Walmart’s broader commitment to supporting U.S. manufacturing and sustainability. Walmart aims to invest $350 billion in U.S.-made products by 2031, with the majority of its annual spend dedicated to U.S.-made, grown, or assembled products. This investment aligns with Walmart’s strategy to enhance the transparency and quality of the products it delivers to its customers.
