Unilever has confirmed that the planned separation of its ice cream division remains on schedule for completion by the end of 2025. The business, to be rebranded as The Magnum Ice Cream Company (TMICC), is set to operate as an independent entity following the demerger.
The company stated that preparatory work is progressing as expected, despite earlier disruption linked to the US government shutdown. Once complete, Unilever will retain a 19.9% stake in TMICC for up to five years, a position intended to manage transition costs and maintain financial flexibility.
The ice cream unit will be reported as a discontinued operation from the fourth quarter of 2025. The move aligns with Unilever’s ongoing portfolio reshaping strategy, which aims to streamline operations and concentrate resources on higher-growth segments.
TMICC is preparing for listings in Amsterdam, London, and New York, positioning itself for independent expansion across international markets. The separation marks one of Unilever’s most significant structural changes in recent years as it seeks to enhance efficiency and strengthen shareholder returns.
