Tyson Foods is overhauling its beef division with a plan centred on consolidation and higher production efficiency. The company will close its facility in Lexington, Nebraska, and concentrate operations at its Amarillo, Texas site, which will shift to full-capacity output.
The restructuring is designed to match current demand patterns and stabilise the company’s supply chain. Production volumes will be increased at the remaining sites to maintain service levels for commercial customers and strengthen network performance.
Tyson is preparing support for employees affected by the closure, including assistance with applications for roles at other locations and relocation options.
The changes arrive during a period of rising input costs, shifting consumer behaviour, and heightened pressure from competitors in the protein sector. Tyson aims to reinforce the long-term resilience of its beef business by streamlining operations and focusing on more efficient sites within its US network.
