Mondelez plans major expansion at Płońsk biscuit site

Mondelez International will channel PLN 620 million into expanding its biscuit facility in Płońsk, marking one of its largest recent capital projects in Poland. The investment will increase the plant’s output by 30% and create 180 additional roles, strengthening its position within the company’s European manufacturing network.

The Płońsk factory has operated since 1976 and currently employs around 700 people. It produces Milka biscuits, Lubisie/Barni, and Delicje Szampańskie, making it one of Mondelez’s key biscuit hubs in Europe. The planned upgrade includes new production lines for Lubisie/Barni and Milka, plus a new raw-materials warehouse and improvements to site infrastructure. Completion is targeted for 2026.

The development aligns with the company’s broader investment strategy across Central and Eastern Europe. Mondelez runs seven manufacturing sites in Poland and an R&D centre in Bielany Wrocławskie that supports product development and testing.

The modernisation programme will also introduce sustainability measures such as replacing plastic trays with paper-based packaging for selected biscuit ranges, increasing automation and improving energy, water and waste performance. The site continues to source part of its raw materials from Polish farms participating in the Harmony programme, which supports sustainable wheat production.
