Cargill has expanded its workforce accommodation in Fort Morgan, Colorado, with the completion of an 81-unit apartment complex. The development builds on 27 townhomes delivered earlier in the year and forms part of a $40 million housing initiative intended to improve employee access to local accommodation.
The scheme supports staff at Cargill’s beef processing facility, where a significant share of the workforce currently commutes from outside the city. The housing is allocated on a first-come basis and requires at least one resident to be employed at the Fort Morgan plant.
The investment is linked to a broader $90 million commitment Cargill has made to operations, technology, and community support in the region. Since 2021, the company has directed $24 million toward plant upgrades under its Factory of the Future programme, which focuses on automation, safety, and efficiency.
A key addition at the site is CarVe, a proprietary computer vision system that provides real-time yield data to improve cutting accuracy and reduce waste. The technology is designed to support productivity gains amid tighter cattle supplies.
Cargill has also contributed more than $500,000 in community grants for services such as childcare and homebuyer education, reflecting continued investment in the wider local infrastructure.
