Cargill will pause operations at its Fort Morgan beef processing plant in Colorado for around 10 days from 3 October to allow for maintenance on the site’s refrigeration system. The scheduled downtime forms part of the company’s broader investment in mechanical integrity and long-term operational upgrades.
The facility has been earmarked for nearly $90 million in technology and automation improvements under Cargill’s Factory of the Future initiative, which is designed to enhance efficiency, yield, and worker safety across its beef operations.
Production will be redistributed across Cargill’s wider North American network to maintain supply continuity. The company confirmed that employees at the Fort Morgan site will continue to receive pay during the maintenance period.
The move follows challenging trading conditions in the beef sector, with tighter cattle numbers affecting market dynamics. Cargill’s decision reflects its ongoing commitment to strengthening infrastructure and sustaining productivity within a competitive and evolving supply chain.
