The Food and Drink Federation has introduced a Nature Handbook designed to support food and drink manufacturers in aligning with the UK’s goal of halting and reversing nature loss by 2030.
Developed with the Broadway Initiative, the resource outlines steps for companies to strengthen environmental performance and address risks tied to biodiversity loss, climate change, and resource security. The handbook positions nature restoration as a key element in protecting supply chains from the growing effects of extreme weather and environmental degradation.
The UK’s food and drink sector remains one of the most resource-dependent industries, drawing heavily on ecosystems for raw materials and agricultural inputs. The new guidance provides practical actions to help businesses reduce their environmental footprint, protect supply resilience, and contribute to the transition towards a more sustainable food system.
The Nature Handbook forms part of the FDF’s wider Ambition 2030 sustainability strategy, which promotes actionable frameworks for decarbonisation, waste reduction, and biodiversity protection across the industry. It is now available to all food and drink manufacturers seeking to integrate nature-positive practices into their operations.
