Hershey to phase out synthetic dyes from snacks by 2027

Hershey has committed to eliminating synthetic dyes from its snack range by 2027, joining a broader industry shift towards healthier, more natural food ingredients. This move follows the growing influence of U.S. health policies targeting artificial food colours, which have been linked to health issues like ADHD and obesity.

The change will affect Hershey’s popular snack lines, including Dot’s Homestyle Pretzels, SKINNYPOP popcorn, and FULFIL protein bars. Hershey is the latest in a string of major food companies, including Kellogg’s, Tyson Foods, Conagra, Nestlé USA, and General Mills, that are reformulating their products to meet consumer demand for cleaner ingredients. This shift signals a significant industry-wide effort to align with public health goals and foster consumer confidence in food choices.
