Hilton Foods begins construction of meat processing plant in Ontario

Hilton Foods Canada, part of the Hilton Food Group PLC, has commenced construction on its first North American meat processing facility in Brantford, Ontario. The company is investing C$192 million ($140 million) into the 230,000-square-foot plant, which will focus on processing beef, pork, lamb, and seafood. The plant will serve portions of Ontario and is expected to create 150 new jobs.

The project has received support from the Southwestern Ontario Development Fund, which will contribute C$1.5 million to the initiative. Hilton Foods is committed to enhancing Ontario’s food supply chain and providing high-quality Canadian products.

This investment follows a 2023 announcement of a partnership with Walmart Canada to build a meat processing plant aimed at supplying retailers across the country, with a full launch slated for 2027. Hilton Foods operates 24 other food processing facilities globally and employs over 7,000 people.
