Nektium has introduced a new suite of proprietary delivery technologies designed to improve the performance and formulation potential of botanical ingredients used in supplements and functional food and drink products.
The platform, known as Smartek, incorporates microencapsulation methods, molecular and matrix inclusion systems and controlled ionisation. These processes have been developed internally to help manufacturers work with botanicals that require improved stability, neutral sensory profiles or enhanced functional effectiveness. Each technique is applied according to the characteristics of the ingredient.
Smartek is already being used across several of Nektium’s existing formulations. Early applications focus on achieving lower-dose efficacy, longer shelf life, and better suitability for consumer-led formats such as gummies and ready-to-drink products, which continue to gain ground in the market.
The launch aligns with increased scrutiny of quality assurance in the botanical supplements sector. Nektium highlights its vertically integrated model, which includes plant identity verification, batch control, and full traceability, as central to maintaining product integrity as it rolls out new technologies.
The company positions Smartek as part of a broader effort to support manufacturers seeking consistent, scalable, and adaptable botanical solutions.
