PepsiCo advances nutrition targets ahead of schedule

PepsiCo has reported early achievement of its 2025 nutrition goals. By the end of 2024, all targets for reducing added sugars in beverages and sodium and saturated fat in convenient foods were met.

67% of the beverage portfolio now contains fewer than 100 calories from added sugars per 12-ounce serving. In convenient foods, 77% of volume meets sodium limits of 1.3 mg per calorie, and 81% of volume has saturated fat at or below 1.1 grams per 100 calories.

The company is progressing towards its 2030 objectives. These include 75% of global convenient foods meeting category sodium targets and delivering 145 billion portions of diverse ingredients annually. In 2024, 44% of convenient foods met sodium targets, up from 36% in 2023, and 69 billion portions of diverse ingredients were supplied, compared with 68 billion the previous year. Portions provide roughly 10% of the daily recommended amount of ingredients such as legumes, whole grains, plant-based proteins, fruit, vegetables, and nuts.

PepsiCo has updated labelling to reflect reformulated products in multiple markets. This includes lower-sugar beverages in China, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and India, and US snacks with 50% less sodium. Beverage packaging in North America now consists of a recycling call to action.

The company positions pep+ as a business-wide transformation linking nutrition, sustainability, production, and distribution across its global operations.
