Pizza Hut’s UK dine-in operator, DC London Pie, has entered administration, leading to the closure of 68 restaurants across the country. Around 1,210 jobs will be lost, while 64 outlets and 1,277 positions are expected to be saved through a pre-pack deal with Yum! Brands, the American parent company behind the global Pizza Hut franchise.
The move follows months of financial strain for the business, which took over 139 UK sites earlier this year after acquiring them from a previous franchisee in insolvency. The company had also faced a winding-up petition from a Yum subsidiary in recent weeks.
Administrators from FTI Consulting have been appointed to oversee proceedings. The affected outlets have yet to be confirmed, but the closures represent a significant contraction in Pizza Hut’s UK dine-in footprint.
Yum! Brands’ acquisition ensures the continuation of operations at selected sites, maintaining supply chains and protecting parts of the workforce during the transition. The restructuring reflects continued turbulence in the casual dining sector, where rising costs and shifts in consumer habits have placed pressure on operators’ margins and sustainability.
