Welsh programme boosts food security training for manufacturers

A new series of technical workshops has been rolled out to support Welsh food and drink manufacturers in strengthening food security practices. Funded through the Welsh Government’s HELIX Programme, the training is being delivered by Cardiff Metropolitan University’s ZERO2FIVE Food Industry Centre between June and September 2025.

The sessions target technical professionals and cover key areas, including product specifications, supplier risk management, food defence, incident response, and root cause analysis. Businesses can attend individual sessions or the whole series, with funding support available based on eligibility and company size.

The initiative forms part of a wider HELIX-backed programme offering innovation and technical support to food and drink producers across Wales. The goal is to enhance supply chain resilience and ensure consistent availability of safe, high-quality raw materials and products.
