Whisky maturation boost as International Beverage expands warehousing

International Beverage has expanded its whisky maturation capacity in Scotland, completing a £7 million investment in six new warehouses at its Airdrie site. The expansion increases total cask storage by around 60,000, bringing the site’s capacity to approximately 700,000 casks.

Each warehouse covers 900 square metres and includes a surface water drainage system. The additional capacity will support maturation of spirits from the company’s five Scottish distilleries: Balblair, Old Pulteney, Balmenach, Knockdhu, and Speyburn.

The project follows recent portfolio growth for International Beverage, which is owned by ThaiBev. In late 2023, the company entered the Cognac market by acquiring the Larsen brand from Anora Group for just under US$60 million.

This expansion bolsters the company’s operational infrastructure amid broader industry challenges, providing increased storage efficiency and scalability at its Scottish headquarters.
