MM Packaging Deeside has finished the roll out of over 15 million confectionery advent calendar packs for the UK’s biggest brands and retailers. Christmas production ramped up to record levels this year, thanks to the cartonboard specialist’s manufacturing and design capabilities.
Advent calendars have become a key sales driver for brands and help guide shoppers to early festive purchases. Demand was high for advent calendars this year with consumers’ appetite for confectionery anticipated to continue to rise. Last year, the UK’s Christmas confectionery market was worth £853 million, up £88 million on 2023.
Julian Freeman, MM Packaging Deeside Managing Director, said: “It’s been encouraging to see the levels of demand in the run up to this Christmas. Shipping out 15 million packs takes hard work, dedication and expertise. Our Deeside team has demonstrated its abilities, and we are proud of the results.
“Confectionery packaging is where we excel, allowing MM Packaging’s expertise in manufacturing and pack development. Brands are driving the business to innovate, and the areas of focus continue to be around material use as well as maintaining the integrity of the pack.”
High volume seasonal turnaround is a familiar story for MM Packaging. At the start of the year, the business turned around 100 million Easter Egg packs. The expertise of its design department helped create highly complex packs, reacting to challenging briefs.
Julian added: “Our ability to handle such numbers is testament to our skills and experience. Whether it’s pack structure or graphical knowhow, we give our customers a clear understanding on what’s possible and achievable in cartonboard packaging.
“We have a fantastic mix of skills and experience within our design team. Structural and graphical knowhow benefits our customers and gives them a great steer on what is possible, pushing the boundaries in cartonboard development and innovative packaging.”
MM Packaging has a proven track record in delivering innovative and creative solutions to the confectionery market. Its pack for Toblerone Truffles won a UK Packaging Award last year and a World Star Award in 2025.
