Microsearch Laboratories Ltd is a national food testing laboratory situated in Mytholmroyd at the heart of the beautiful Calder Valley. We are UKAS accredited for Microbiological, Nutritional, Allergen and Species testing on food and drink, swabs and water materials. Our laboratory is approved to test M&S and Tesco products and with over 30 years experience we’re extremely proud to provide an efficient, reliable and friendly tailored service while remaining highly competitive.

Both of our purpose built laboratories are located in Mytholmroyd. We currently employ over 200 staff and have our own dedicated transport fleet of 25 refrigerated vehicles which provide a national collection service 365 days a year. Combined with our bespoke sample registration and latest results database portal, we believe that we offer one of the best available services to both small and large food manufacturers across the UK.

Des O’Connor founded Microsearch in 1978 in the centre of Hebden Bridge. Des initially worked in isolation but driven by a passion for science and knowledge of Microbiology he continued to work hard and eventually began the route to expansion. After many years of hard work, Microsearch became a 5-person team which very soon became 30 achieving “CLAS” accreditation and became a LTD company in 1992. UKAS accreditation followed in 1998, creating opportunities for the company which saw it double in size within the next 4 years.

Microsearch continues to grow today, employing a workforce of over 200 in 3 different laboratories over 2 sites. The family run business continues to invest in our people and the latest technologies creating a dedicated team who are happy to help our clients 365 days a year.
